Inventory

How stock is counted per variant, reserved during checkout, deducted on payment and returned on cancellation.

Stock per variant

Stock is kept per variant (or per product when there are no variants). The available quantity is the stock on hand minus what is currently reserved by checkouts in progress.

Reservations during checkout

Adding a product to the cart does not touch stock. Stock is reserved at the moment the customer presses "complete payment":

  1. The order is created and the quantity is reserved in one step, so two customers cannot both buy the last item.
  2. The reservation lasts 30 minutes for card payments (enough for the bank's 3D Secure page) and 24 hours for bank transfers (adjustable).
  3. When the payment is confirmed, the reservation becomes a deduction. When the payment fails or the customer abandons the checkout, the reservation is released, immediately or when it expires.

Marketplace orders reserve from the same stock pool, so a product cannot be oversold across channels.

Backorders

By default the storefront never sells below the available quantity. If you enable backorders for the store, an order can take stock negative and is flagged "awaiting supply".

Low-stock warnings

Set a threshold per product or per store. When stock falls below it you get a panel notification, and a stock.low webhook is sent if you use webhooks. A product can also be taken off sale automatically when it reaches zero.

Stock history

Every movement (sale, cancellation, return, manual correction, import) is recorded with who did it, when and why, so a stock figure can always be explained.

Returns

When a returned item is marked as resellable, its quantity goes back into stock. Damaged items can be moved to a separate location that does not sell. See Returns and refunds.
